- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 12 squares of chocolate (dark or milk, approximately 1-inch pieces)
- Optional: Drizzle with icing or melted white chocolate for decoration.
Prepare Dough: In a mixing bowl, cream butter and both sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in the chocolate chips evenly.
Chill Dough: Wrap the dough and chill in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to prevent spreading.
Form Cookies: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough, flatten slightly, and place a chocolate square in the center. Cover with another tablespoon of dough, sealing the edges to encase the chocolate.
Bake: Arrange cookies on the baking sheet with enough spacing and bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
Cool & Serve: Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm to enjoy the molten chocolate centers.
