Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (110g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for extra fudginess)
  • 1 ½ cups M&Ms, divided (use more for decoration if desired)

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy brownie removal. Lightly grease the paper with cooking spray.
  • Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Combine the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Make the batter: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined (do not overmix to keep the brownies fudgy). Stir in the chocolate chips and 1 cup of M&Ms.
  • Assemble and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining M&Ms on top for decoration. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  • Cool: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Slice into squares and enjoy!
