Ingredients

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Donuts

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar/lemon juice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

For the Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or butter.

Prepare the Crumble Topping

  • In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Stir in the melted butter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
  • Set aside.

Make the Donut Batter

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Carefully fold in the blueberries.

Bake the Donuts

  • Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over each donut.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the donuts are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Prepare the Glaze

  • In a bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired consistency.

Glaze and Serve

  • Once the donuts are cooled, dip the tops into the glaze. Allow any excess to drip off.
  • Serve as is, or sprinkle a bit more crumble on top for extra texture.
