Ingredients

  • Seven smoked eggs

  • one teaspoon diced pickled jalapenos

  • two teaspoons stone ground coarse mustard

  • two teaspoons Best Sweet Rub

  • one teaspoon apple cider vinegar. As garnish, 12 slices of pickled jalapenos.

How to make Smoked Deviled Eggs

  • Once your eggs have been smoked, it’s time to create the filling. Everyone and their grandmother claim they know the perfect deviled eggs recipe; my recipe also stands the test of time; finding that perfect balance of flavors is key! Use creamy mayonnaise in order to smooth and moisten yolks, add spice with mustard for some added heat, and finally ensure there is some acidity present to complete this dish!
  • Pickles are often included in deviled egg recipes, but I wanted something with more kick. So, instead of going for pickles alone, I used pickled jalapenos – you won’t feel any heat from mild jalapenos but still get their characteristic flavor! For an added bit of flare I add an extra slice so everyone knows exactly what they’re getting into and as an additional touch I add my Homemade Barbecue Sweet Rub for its classic color and smoky bite!

Serve With Smoked Salmon

  • Smoked Deviled Eggs make an ideal accompaniment for smoked salmon as an appetizer or snack. Their combination of flavors creates an irresistibly delicious dish.
