Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken Breasts (thinly cut)

  • 2 cups of broccoli florets

  • Two tablespoons each of soy and oyster sauce

  • 1 tablespoon each of soy, oyster and sesame oils

  • Two cloves minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger (minced)

  • Half cup chicken broth (1 tablespoon vegetable oil)

  • Sesame seeds as garnish (optional)

  • Rice

Step by-Step Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken Wash your hands thoroughly to remove all germs. Slice chicken breasts thinly so it cooks more evenly and quickly. For optimal flavor enhancement, marinate in a mixture consisting of 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon sesame seed oil for 10 minutes prior to placing in the refrigerator.
  • Blanch or steam broccoli florets for approximately 2-3 minutes until their green hue has intensified while still remaining crisp and vibrant in color. While you prepare the stir-fry, set aside these broccoli florets.
  • Stir Fry The Chicken In a large wok or pan over medium high heat, heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil before adding marinated strips of chicken and cooking for 7 to 9 minutes or until they have become golden brown in color. Remove it and set on a plate.
  • Make the Sauce. Simmer minced ginger and garlic for 30 seconds in the same pan until fragrant, before pouring in chicken broth along with remaining tablespoons of oyster sauce and sesame seed paste. Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water in order to thicken your sauce further.
  • Combine Everything* Once everything is combined, stir to ensure all pieces of broccoli and chicken are coated evenly with sauce. Allow this dish to simmer for another 2-4 minutes so the flavors can really meld together.
  • Savor and Serve Serve the stir-fry over warm rice and sprinkle sesame seed for extra flavor and texture.

Customizing Your Stir Fry

  • Add Some Vegetables: Try including carrots, bell peppers or snow peas for an added crunch in your stir-fry.

How to make the Perfect Stir Fry

Frying on High Heat

This step will allow the ingredients to cook quickly, and help prevent chicken from drying out or vegetables becoming soggy.

Cook Ingredients Separately: To ensure even and quick cooking of the broccoli, separate chicken and broccoli before mixing in the pan. This will guarantee even cooking, while preventing it from turning soggy too soon.

Be wary of overcrowding your pan: Overcrowding can reduce temperature significantly and result in steam instead of stir frying, so cook in batches if necessary. Here is some additional nutritional value of Broccoli and Chicken Stir Fry
